For the last 23 years, unions have been working together with their community allies to provide a holiday event for thousands of men, women and children in Metro Vancouver. Last year, this joyous event with wonderful food, music and laughter served almost 3,300 guests in the spirit of giving. Volunteers (including Santa!) perform all aspects of the preparation, service, entertainment, clean-up, security, and music for the event, held in two locations from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The event includes a hot turkey dinner and an opportunity for children from struggling families to receive a toy from Santa. Items such as warm clothing and personal hygiene items are collected and purchase
Local 517's next monthly union meeting will be held: On Wednesday, January 10, 2018 At the Maritime Labour Centre (1880 Triumph Street, Vancouver) Dinner will be served at 5:00 PM, with the meeting being called to order at 5:15 PM Per our By-Laws, the business of the Local shall be managed by the Executive subject to the approval of the active membership, governed by Robert's Rules of Order.
