Donate / Volunteer - 24th Annual Labour Community Christmas Dinner

For the last 24 years, unions have been working together with their community allies to provide a holiday event for thousands of men, women and children in Metro Vancouver. Last year, this joyous event with wonderful food, music and laughter served almost 3,300 guests in the spirit of giving.

Volunteers (including Santa!) perform all aspects of the preparation, service, entertainment, clean-up, security, and music for the event, held in two locations from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

The event includes a hot turkey dinner and an opportunity for children from struggling families to receive a toy from Santa. Items such as warm clothing and personal hygiene items are collected and purchased to distribute to those in need. After dinner, guests receive a hamper to take with them with fresh produce and canned/non-perishable goods.

The local voted at our last meeting to make a financial contribution for this event, but there is more you can do.

Donations of the following items are needed:

  • Unwrapped toys and gifts suitable for teens

  • Non-perishable food

  • Gift cards and passes

  • New and gently used, washed clothing for men, women and children

  • Jackets, hats, socks and gloves

Drop off your donation items at Natalie Woods' desk (N01 on 10K) on or before December 18.
